Also in Bellville, Central Pennsylvania Clinic – A Medical Home for Special Children and Adults completed construction of their new $2.5 million timber frame facility which includes a biochemical and molecular lab to assist with their research and treatment of hereditary conditions in closed communities.
Geisinger Lewistown Hospital recently invested in a Mako robotic-arm-assisted joint replacement technology, which will serve residents in Mifflin and surrounding counties. The Mako system will assist doctors providing total hip plus total and partial knee replacements. The equipment’s capabilities allow smaller incisions, less post-operative pain, and can lead to faster returns to daily activities. This system is in addition to other recent Geisinger investments including upgrading the Emergency Department and Imaging Services, as well as installing new 3-D mammography technology to improve early detection of breast cancer while providing patients a more comfortable experience.
